Digital Waste Tracking submission error: what the deadline means
There are two different error situations in the current GOV.UK guidance. They should not be mixed together: an error notification during the original submission window has a short deadline, while an error discovered later has a separate correction rule.
Error notified during submission
If you receive an email or software notification that there is an error with your receipt submission, GOV.UK says you must correct it within the same two-working-day timeframe that applies to the original reporting duty.
Error discovered after a record was submitted
GOV.UK separately says errors in submitted data or waste information given to you must be corrected as soon as possible and always within one month of discovering the error. Updating an existing spreadsheet requires a waste tracking reference for that movement.
Do not turn missing facts into a pass
A useful preflight should distinguish a complete record from one that still needs confirmation. RegEvidenceHub therefore does not invent waste codes, hazardous status or other decisive facts when they are missing.
If the problem is an outage
The guidance has a different outage process: keep a written receipt record within two working days, notify the regulator where required, and transfer the written record to the service within seven working days after the outage is resolved.
